Back in 1973, Edgar Ortelee gathered his young family and left the Netherlands for an African adventure. They happily settled in South Africa, where a decade later, Edgar became the first authorised Xerox dealer in the country. The company, Cape Office Machines (COM) operated from Stellenbosch, and opened Comprint, a printing business, in 1983.
Edgar’s brother, Jac Ortelee, took over the reigns in 1993 and changed the trading name to Econoprint.
More than three decades later, and now called Comprint, we remain a proudly-owned family business. Run by Saskia, Edgar’s daughter, the legacy of innovation and exceptional customer care continues.

Best thing about Comprint? It’s difficult to pin down one thing, but my team rock! Not only are they incredibly passionate and good at what they do, they are just lovely human beings. I love the history – love the fact that we have walked a road with our long-standing clients. So, our team rocks! Our clients rock!
Three things on your bucket list: In no particular order – hug an orang-utan, buy a fixer-upper in the Karoo (in the middle of nowhere!) and have breakfast at Tiffany’s in NY, with my daughter.
What do you think is the greatest invention/discovery ever made? Tea! And, spectacles. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to see! And aeroplanes, so that I can see/experience all the places I still want to visit on my bucket list.
